How did you tighten the nut then if it's inside? Or was there a 6 pack involved

I dont know. I was puttihng stuff back together and I didnt realize until I was putting the serpentine belt on that the pulley was backward. I know I was only putting the fan on to hold it in place and hand treaded it on there for a few threads. The next time I looked at it the nut got threaded into the pulley. Guess I was turning the fan while I was screwing with the bolts on the alternator. i think...
I am actually not sure how it happened. idk... well dont I feel like an idiot.

suggestions to loosen a nut you cant physically touch?

See what I am dealing with? WHERE IS THE DAMN NUT?! The nut is inside the bell of the pulley! How do I get to it to loosen it? The best suggestion I can come up with (other than the one that involved C4) is that I remove the water pump with the fan on it still in the hopes that once I get it out I will be better able to work with it, perhaps cut the pulley in half with a cut off wheel or drill out the bolts from the back side. I take out the bolts on the pulley and it all comes apart right? Then it is a simple matter to re thread the holes and get new bolts from local hardware store, correct?

thanks guys
P.S. does it occur to anyone else that I am the only person who has these kinds of situatiations as an occurance of daily life?

I removed my water pump with the fan attached but i still had to unbolt the pulley to allow me to move it around to get to the water pump bolts. It is going to be very difficult to get the pump bolts out with the pulley intact but with it on backwards you might be able to get it. Can you get a 90 degree and drill out the bolts from the back? I am out of town and can't check under the hood, sorry if the idea turns out to be garbage. Having done the water pump before I can see how that might happen, getting these things back together is pretty exciting and you can get ahead of yourself.

I guess that is the best plan. I will remove the water pump sometime tonight and see how it looks. hmmm where is my 90 for the drill anyway...

other, better, suggestions before I remove the h2o pump and trash another gasket?

I just had a look at my fan and pulley and tried to imagine the pulley reversed - then started laughing, sorry.
Anyway, if you look at the back of the fan, how much of a gap is there between the fan and the pulley? (I cannot tell from the picture). Enough to squeeze a skinny fan tool in? Maybe if you try to push the fan out of the way and force the tool in?

From the looks of it you may have to cut it. Unless (if it is loose enough) you can get the fan hot enough to lock up and then spin it off. I'm not sure if when the engine spins if it is loosening or tightening.

There is about 0.0 inches of room in there. I am pretty sure that when the engine spins it is TIGHTENING it. but that is just a guess. and yes I had a few laughs at my own expense too so that is excusable.
