Default Have my coil packs moved?!

In the middle of plugs and wires right now.

Coming to putting everything back together and I see that the coil pack looks like it should be held in place by the bracket bolt for the shiny pipe. I've obviously removed this for the wires install.

However the coil pack is rock solid, looking at that photo it looks like it just moved there when I took the bracket off, however on the bracket I am about to reinstall there are marks like it has been tightened down on the moved coil flange thingy in the past.

And the coil flange thingy has corresponding flattened bits.

I have to assume that a previous wires change has been put back together incorrectly.

My question is this - The coil packs are really solid feeling. Should I 'make' them line up with the holes again, or replace as was? Truck is running just fine in all those departments, don't want to upset the applecart.

Are the coils just bolted to things, and shifting them around a bit won't matter?

Thanks all. Clock is ticking on this one a little bit. Have to have it back together in an hour or two.

Not sure if you finished this yet or not but the coil bracket is held on tot he lower intake by bolts at the bottom and the upper intake by the bolt that is missing on yours. You need to remove the top and loosen the bottom to pull the upper intake to replace valve cover gaskets or wires. Or you can remove the top ones and bend the bracket back so that you can pull off the upper intake. That's probably how yours ended up looking like that. If it isn't moving around then the bottom is tight and that should be enough to hold it.

Oh, that makes a bit more sense. It seems like the bracket holding the coils on has been bent out of the way, yes. So it means the IM has been off at some point.

It was all really quite solid, so i put it back the way it was. I would have had more of a hard time trying to get it mack into place, couldn't see instantly how to loosen the bottom fixings.

Its all done and dusted now.

Cheers.
