Default Head Lights keep burning out

I've been using Sylvania SilverStar H7 bulbs from Autozone and have had them go out 6 times in the pass 2 years. I seem to be having the same problem with both lights. It seems after I replace one the other side will go out. I am not touching them when I install them and there is no condensation on the inside of the lights. I also use the bulb grease on the inside of the plug. Any suggestions on what might be going on or what brand to switch to.
Thanks
Andrew

I've used those for over a year now and they are great, maybe skip the dielectric grease.

First off when you buy light bulbs of the same type/brand they are going to have the same life, so it one lasts 500 hrs the other can be expected to last 500 hrs or so.
Second, read the back of the package, it will tell you the life of those bulbs compared to other Sylvania headlight bulbs, the Silverstars have a short life because they burn hotter than a standard headlight.
The hotter something gets the shorter its life, bottom line no ifs and's or buts about that one.
I ran the Silverstar in my Montero and they got so hot they melted the connector on the back of the headlight.
Switch to the Phillips equivalent of the Silverstar.

I have these in both my truck and my wifes Volvo, we drive alot at night and they are great bulbs and last a very long time.

I agree with Spike. I have HID's that are similar to his. Great investment.

I do NOT have HID's, HID kits are illegal.
The bulbs I suggested are halogens with the same color of HID's.

I tried Silverstars and they lasted for 5 months/3,000 miles. They both burned out at the same time, which prompted me to think that I was having a switch problem instead of burned-out headlights (it's a long story, but my 1-year-old son was playing with all the switches in the car). My logic was: how could both bulbs burn out at exactly the same time? Anyway, before I spent the $200 or so for a new stalk switch I decided to swap back in my old lightbulbs (I had upgraded to the Silverstars to get something brighter), they worked, and are still working 5 months later.

Long story short: Silverstars are nice and bright. They're great if you enjoy swapping bulbs out all the time and spending money on lightbulbs...

Same story here...replaced my headlights with Siverstars for ****s and giggles to see if they were all that they were supposed to be cracked up to be...yes, they give off more light, but not substantially so...

...they both burned out within a few months of install and I popped back in my original headlight bulbs...the original bulbs have been on my truck for 5+ years and 70,000+ miles...

I always use Flosser in my cars, and those bulbs last long time.

I really don't understand the whole "changing to brighter bulbs" thing. My headlights are plenty bright and they are stock. If you want more light, add more lights guys. The way I see it there are only two really useful places to put more lights on a Disco II. One spotlight in the back for reversing, loading/unloading, and repairs in the dark. One spotlight high up on the driver side A-pillar for seeing down into holes and such.
