Default Heater Problems? Help!!

I have a 2004 Disco II S. There is about a 10 -15 minute delay before hot air blows after the engine has warmed up (according to temp guage). I have the controls set to Auto and 84 degrees. I recently moved to North Dakota and would like some heat. What can I do to make the heat blow warmer sooner? Any help is greatly appreciated.

When was the last time you checked/added coolant to your engine? Sounds like you have a leak that needs to be delt with ASAP.
If you are not familiar with our coolant issues, send me your number and I'll walk you thru what to do.

Ok, so I was up early this morning coming to Starbucks. It took about 7 minutes from start up until the heater started blowing warm air. I had it on Auto, so the blower did not go high until about 3 minutes later at 10 minutes. Is Auto, the only way to get hot air, as the other setting do not seem to work? I will check my coolant this weekend and if I need help, I will message you my number so you can walk me through it. Thanks for the help.

So I put some coolant in Monday morning and lo and behold I have heat like I never have before. it warms up super quick too. Interesting to note that I have never been able to run my heat on normal settings. I always had to use auto mode. On another note, I cannot find a coolant leak anywhere. Everything looks dry as a bone. No smell or anything. If you have any suggestions or comments, please feel free.

You have a coolant leak somewhere, maybe add a little bottle of coolant dye and keep an eye out. Does your engine smoke first thing in the am?

Agreed, you have a coolant leak and for the sake of your engine, I wouldn't wait too long to have it pressure tested and repaired.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the help and advice. I will keep an eye out on the leak. I was looking last night and there may be a slight leak on the throttle body heater? Is this common or an easy fix? Otherwise, I have yet to see anything. The temp gauge looks good. Advice is welcome

Thanks
Nick
