Default high lift jack alternative

Guys:
It looks like there are some pretty serious off roaders contributing to this thread. I would like to mention that here in South Africa as well as in Australia, the D2 is pretty popular with some pretty serious bush travelers. They would NOT use a high lift jack with the stock bumpers if they have a choice. Replace the stock bumpers with good quality alternative steel bumpers that have built in high lift jack points. No issues with plastic then!

OR - better (and more expensive) yet; get an exhaust jack similar to what is shown on this link -
This one is not dependent on the surface you are using to support the jack. Edit: you can get one from a place called Titan exhaust jacks for about 80 bucks! I may have to look at one....

In NO case should one get under the car when it is jacked up, and the tippiness of the high lift jack is negated by the broad base of the exhaust jack. They are the jack of choice here - if one can afford it.....

Have you ever used one as a winch? I have, I'd rather jack with it.

Sure, it's anything but the best option, but if it's all you have and you need something to winch with then it's better than nothing.

I'm not saying otherwise, I was just replying to your post that you'd rather winch with it than use it as a jack. At least that's what I got from your post.
