help can not get in my disco lost the damn key!!!
Found this stuff:
Locked my keys inside my 2000 Disco II. Very frustrating because I could see the keys on the seat. Called a wrecker to come out. He had a slim jim but the door would not unlock; he wanted to use plastic wedges on the doorframe but warned it might damage the door. I told him I would try something else.
Same day talked to Parts rep at the dealer. Wanted something like $150 for a new key because of the remote, etc. However he suggested cutting a key using the 2000 identity code from a blank for a 99 Disco II - the blank was a flat key without the remote. He said sometimes this would work but no guarantee. Not only did it unlock the doors but I still use it to start the engine. All in cost was $75 for the unsuccessful wrecker driver and $15 for the key.
Parts rep told me the Disco II was designed so that it could never be opened with a slim jim and the even the dealer had to use plastic wedges on the doorframe to break in - which often caused damage.
Hope this helps someone.

The pushbutton keys in Discovery II models can only be coded by a shop with the Autologic, T4, or IDS diagnostic systems.

thanks for the help and tips. gonna try the a wedge tomorrow in hopes I can hit the dash button. Then I just hope that 1 of the 3 newly cut keys fits the ignition. I had a fob previously and never once used the key in the door so I dont know if they were different or if the door lock ever worked. and if all else fails it times for a broken window and a tow truck I guess. oh and already checked the string of bars no one has seen them.
I bet you can find the key.
Go into your closet and shake all the shirts and pants.
Look in the washer or dirty laundry.
Check around the door.
Events that LOSE KEYS are:
Cell phone and keys are in same pocket.
Call comes in - you grab cell phone.
Keys are near cell phone and come tumbling out.
Look at your phone's call log.
Time the calls came in.
Then figure out where you were. If you don't know, call the people who called you
and they maybe can tell you.
Any reason to reach into your pocket and out can take the keys out with that object in your pocket.
If you smoke, then go to the smoker's area where you smoked and look for the keys.
Check your laptop case.
Or, you may have decided you would have a night out and go all over the place and you set the keys in the bathroom on the counter. Or in the bar on the counter.
Or you checked into a hotel and left them on the counter.
Best of luck to you.
It is easiest to find the key.
Guess where my 2nd Rover key is?
In the back seat pocket of the Rover.
So, who am I to give valid advice.
Hopefully some of this will jog your memory and an "a ha" moment will come.
