Default help, I can't get my key out.

I am in the process of replacing my front drive shaft. I had shifted the transfer case into neutral so I could get to all the bolts easier. But know I can't get the key to turn all the way to the steering lock position, and my battery got drained from the key being stuck on. Please help.

Maybe these are dumb/obvious questions but since you didn't specify either way.......Is the transmission in neutral? Did you try wiggling the steering wheel back and forth?

Rob,

Thanks. Yeah it wasn't fully in low of high. After I got it fully into low, I was able to get the key out. I never would have thought that would make a difference. Maybe I wasn't holding my tongue right.

Good stuff....It's amazing how finicky these trucks can be

What kind of drive-shaft are you putting in?

I ordered a ToddCo. Do you have a source of supply for the nuts and bolts. The nuts got pretty torn up when I took them off. And if I'm putting on new nuts then I figured I'd replace the bolts too. Are they something I can get at a auto parts store, provided they are a equal or stronger grade? Thanks.

Davis1978, I recently made this change too. I used grade 8 bolts with locking nuts. If you dont use the locking nuts, be sure to use loktite.
