My 2003 discovery just started acting odly. Randomly while parked the doors will lock on their own and the headlights will turn on and off every few minutes. Occasionally it will flash the blinker lights as well. It's been doing this off and on for several days. If I go out it unlocks with key and starts up just fine. It only does this while sitting parked. I have no idea where to even start troubleshooting. Any one have any ideas of what could be going on?

 

Have you checked the battery? Make sure all the terminals are tightly secured, that would be my first step.

 

I did check the battery. It's about a year old yellow top and it turns engine over very nicely. Cables tight and clean, I went on and disconnected the battery for the night due to the annoying headlights shining at the house

 

Remove the battery from your FOB and see if it continues. If not, the issue is with your key, maybe just needs a new battery. What you describe happens when you push or hold the lock button.

Took the battery out of remote and the problem seems to be fixed. I think the fob is bad, when I was jostling it around getting the battery out the little red light on fob kept flashing like I was pushing buttons. Thanks again for the help!
