help me remove this part! or just tell me how
so close yet so far. made some progress today. im down to the head bolts that won't budge. don't want to rush and wreck so i am done for the day. as far as the sai pipes go i ended up having to remove them to get to one of the rear head bolts. one of the ends freed up and that made pulling the other side much easier. wish i had that custom tool tho!
Did you clean combustion chambers or it is exactly the way it looked after tear down,,
Because from what I see in pic the chamber that you call as "in question" is the way it's supposed to be,, seems like the other 3 are the ones that have a problem, if engine has been running for some time the inlet valve's should look dark & covered with carbon & exhaust valves should look reddish brown color,,,,,,
Seems like 3 of the chambers also had carbon buildup at some point, which is expected,, but looks like they have been washed with something & valves never should be that white sooth look,,,,,
How do the pistons & cylinder walls look,?

that was pre-clean... the pistons are all dark just like the cylinder 4's head. i thought it was odd that all the valves look that way. is it possible that bank 2 was remapped lean since cylinder 4 was not firing properly. the last car i pulled apart that looked like that was having fueling issues. after cleaning everything up, cylinder 4 is the cleanest. it has obvious signs of steam cleaning from coolant. with no damage to the gasket and no other obvious signs of water leak i'm leaning to believe that i have coolant passing up the sleeve
well on to shoving it all back together tomorrow...

On the back side of those nuts is a fitting that has a square head you can get a pair of channel lock pliers or crowfoot wrench on to hold it while you use another pair of channel locks to loosen the nut.

As for the "modified tool", if you have a spare wrench to bend then great, but I suggest getting a "crowfoot wrench set" like the one below. I used them on this pipe the first time I had to remove it because it was really on there. Now I just use 2 pairs of channel locks. Find what works best for you I guess.
