Default Help with my 2000 disco 2 tranny

I just bought a 2000 discovery 2 for my wife, got a good deal because it needed a fuel pump. I ordered a fuel pump and had it put in got it started was running rough (would only idle) had a mechanic put his computer on it and it needed a Mass Air Flow sensor got that ordered and installed along with new plugs and it seemed to run fine. It had a little issue with tranny slipping on inclines so I figured I would check the fluid and it was black (like burnt motor oil) since it was the day before Christmas I figured I would change the fluid. After I did that it would not go into gear, when I put it into any gear it is almost like being in neutral there is a small hint of change. Please tell me I won't need a new transmission.

How much fluid did you get out an how much went back in? Does not sound promising.

The filter is just a metal screen, can't hurt but not sure it will help. Dropping the pan will be good to see if there are any metal chunks on the magnet. How are you getting it to the mechanic?

Before you turn a mechanic loose on your truck, send me your number and I'll call you right back, you do have problems.

I use a mobile mechanic I've used him before on my other vehicles and he's pretty reliable for minor stuff. It's working now new filter and "9" quarts of fluid. It made a pretty big difference in the shifting still has a little hesatation shifting from 3rd to 4th. Thank you for responding. I still have some things left to do to it I have the three amigos lit up on the dash still have that to figure out

For the amigos find someone to read your abs codes or rent/buy an abs amigo
