corrosion only on this side?
Looks like the results of a small leak. Probably just seeping or steaming out and may be contributing to the air issue. Keep up the good work.

Refilling the coolant system now and then intending a test drive.
Please let me know how crazy Am I?
Those plastic lines don't have to be OEM. The little piece of rubber hose that they splice in to... Buy as many feet of that brand new from the store and replace all of those POS, brittle plastic lines and put an end to that nonsense. Any auto parts or hardware store sells it. Even Lowes. There is all kinds of cheap hoses and lines under there that will be degrading from the high engine heat from the coolant problems so replace as much as you can. Next thing it will be vacuum lines and you will be back here asking what the 8 fault codes mean in relation to your rough idle and loss of horsepower.

And since the previous owner was far from "meticulous maintaining" you should look really hard at the driveshaft Ujoints and get ready to rebuild both or at least completely replace the front one with the Lucky8 model that sells for $220. You think you have problems now, wait til that front DS lets go at the double cardan and knocks a softball-sized hole in the front of your transmission housing while you are cruising along at 55 mph.

Even though you hated my song yesterday I'm going to try not giving you anymore rubbish for awhile since you were kind enough to help out this evening on my trans filter thread. Thanks again.

That's the BMW PN recommended by others. Will be ordering one myself soon. Many vendors and price options for you.

Default Brass Plug

I bought one of these at the hardware store. I think its 1/8. I just need an O-ring. I don't really know where I was going with this...
I was thinking maybe I had the wrong size, I got confused because originally I bought what I thought was a 3/8 and it was like 2 sizes too big. When I took it back for an exchange, the clerk or whoever told me that it wasn't 3/8, but 1/4. I was like "1/4?? Look how big it is." And he says, "yeah they run big like that." So I ended up getting this tiny little f**ker and I haven't tried it out yet. Scared to death to crack my lines open unless absolutely necessary, 'cause you know, its a discovery and S*** goes down whenever you start messing with things that aren't doing any harm. I think the 1/8 should be good if I originally started out with what he told me was the 1/4-inch. Can anyone confirm?
