Default How do you get a stuck steering wheel off?

Apologies if this seems like a stupid question but I'm trying to get the steering wheel off and no matter how hard I pull on it, it won't budge. The air bag module has been removed and the centre nut loosened as per the rave manual. I bought a steering wheel puller but there seems to be no holes to screw the bolts into. Am I just being extremely stupid and blind or was the puller a waste of 20 bucks and I'm just going to have to turn into the incredible hulk to get it off.
Thanks

Why are you needing to remove the steering wheel?

Had a major leak under the dash and thought it was the heater core. Finally got the wheel off and have the whole dash out now. Leak looks like it's coming from the coolant pipes where they run down the firewall and bend to go to the heater core. I need to cut away the insulation as that is soaked but there are no leak marks at the core end. I just need to try and get the heater assembley out now. All bolts/nuts are removed but the coolant pipe saddle seems to be screwed to the firewall but there is no head on the screw.

To bad you didnt ask first, the dash does NOT need to come out to replace the heater core.
There is a access panel on the foot well under the stereo, roll up the carpet, remove a couple of screws and the panel comes off.
Takes like 15 min to get that far.

I took my steering wheel off to replace it with a better one and after taking the big nut off grab the wheel at 3 o clock and 9 o clock and gently wiggle side to side while pulling backwards. this will take about five minutes of tugging and pulling and will eventually slide off

thanks for the tips on the steering wheel removal and heater core replacement. The carpet/foam was soaked and it seems that the leak was coming from the inlet/outlet pipes instead of the heater core. I took the whole dash and heater assembly out to try and dry it and trouble shoot the leak.

griffker,

If you have a D2, coolant leak from heater core will be non-stop, because it is never turned off, hot coolant is always going thru there if water pump is turning. If you must bypass for testing, be sure to keep it connected so water can still flow. Pix of bypass on a D1 (similar concept) and D2 plumbing layout.

98% of wet carpet in a Disco is because of clogged a/c drains.
10 min under the truck fix.

And it won't be warm water that smells like antifreeze.
