Each Genuine Land Rover lug nut cost $11.95 at Atlantic British, that can get expensive when you need more than a few.

Yes, I will surely go the not-messing-them-up route! There is no need to take them off now, so I won't. I'll buy the right 6 point socket, or find a a lug wrench that fits it.
Still confused as to what that thing that looks like a puller is shown in the manual though. Any thoughts?

The only puller used in that area, that I know of, is the hub puller. It is used to remove the hub and get to the bearing.

Spray them caps with some lube (pb blaster or wd40) and hammer the 1 1/6 socket on, that will snug the cap to the lug, then remove the socket. You should be able to get the socket back on without much hassle after that. The caps get messed up when tire shops whack them with oversized sockets on their air tools.

Wait... are you talking about the lug nuts or the center cap with Land Rover on it?

The lug nuts. On a separate note, I lost one of the center caps yesterday, presumably when I hit a crater on Route 80 that was impossible to avoid. So, any tips on getting those out would be great. I'm hoping the spare tire has one. I have to take the cover off and see.

Land Rover Wheel Center Green Oval SIlver Sparkle - Land Rover Wheel Parts at Roverparts.com

They just snap in place from the outside.
So if you want to remove one from a rim you need to push from the inside out.

As for the lug nuts, took me 3 hours to do all 4 wheels my first time.
Like already mentioned, it MUST be a 6 point socket, lube the lug nut, hammer on the socket, use your breaker bar to break the lug nut loose.
Then take your hammer and pound the socket off the lug.
Move onto the next lug.
Welcome to Land Rover.

x2 those center caps pop out easily from the inside, too easily sometimes.

That is actually not a bad price for those. So, if I was going to buy something to keep in the truck for emergencies, what would you suggest? Don't go with a tire iron, maybe get a cheap type ratchet and 6 point socket? I wouldn't want to keep one of my good ratchets in the truck and have to take the tool kit apart when I need it.

I bought a 2' x 1" breaker bar and a socket at Tractor Supply to use instead of the tire iron. I bent my tire iron trying to get the lug nuts off.
