Default How to remove oil separater

Hey everyone, so i've noticed some oil leakage around my passenger-side valve-cover gasket lately, and I was told that it was due to a plugged up pcv/oil separater. I got the hose on it off, but the oil separater is completely stuck and won't budge a bit. Any good tips on how I should go about removing this, or should I leave it to the professionals? Thanks in advance everyone!

spry a little carb cleaner in and let it sit. Then remove with small needle nose pliers. I would get a new one. You will most likely break it and they are under $10 at most dealers.

Yah so i called my LR Dealership tonight and the service representative tells me (and i quote) "The DiscoII doesn't have an oil separater or even a pcv system for that matter." I asked him if he would look it up to make sure, but he refused saying that he's seen enough to know that we don't have pcv systems on our Disco's. I know he's full of crap, because I saw the oil separater today. Does anyone know of a good LR mechanic or good dealership in the Michigan/Indiana/Illinois area? Thanks in advance!

Wow, never ask a service advisor for advice, they don't take engines apart.

take a pair of vice grips and get at it at the very top, then put it in a vice grip and drill thru the entire thing.

so I got the internal seperator out, replaced it with a new one, which was tough to fit in. I had to file it to fit it in..... its a bit loose right now, but should stay in.... any tricks on getting the new seperator in WITHOUT filing it?
