Default How stiff should a CV joint be?

I put in a new wheel hub and CV joint today. The CV I pulled out flopped around on the drive shaft with little friction. The new one (cheap part on RockAuto) is super stiff and requires maybe 20 lbs of force to move the joint around.

There was nothing apparently wrong with the original hub or CV, but I happened to have new ones laying around and I needed the old hub for fabricating a tire swingaway.

That's fine, new one has stiffer grease...old one has old worn thin grease.

Brian.
