In my experience, auto parts guys are almost worthless unless they've been doing it for 20 years and have learned thru osmosis from the mechanics who buy from them. I couldn't count how many times I've heard them give someone bad advice or an incorrect diagnosis.

That said, this sealant is pretty obscure. I'm guessing mostly machine shops use it these days, and they probly buy it in large quantities and not from Auto Zone. Like I said, I couldn't find it anywhere. If I were doing it again, I'd just order from amazon well before undertaking the job.

Interesting. I've not done that on mine, nor did I notice any removing the old hubs. I guess it's for keeping water put of the axles and stuff during water crossings and such, right? Because I don't have any oil leaking out, that's for sure.

I guess it would kee water out, but so would a coating of grease. I think it is there to keep the hub from vibrating around on the CV shaft.

Like I said, I wouldn't be comfortable without it.

Ah, ok. I see. How strange, you'd think the 360lb/ft torque would do that pretty well.
