FANTASTIC off-road 4x4. Hill Descent is gold. Water fording up to mid-way on the transmission is no problem. Limited slip and traction control work ok.

The fun 4x4'ing start around 3.5 minutes in!

I also use my stock 2003 D2 TD5 (with no mods or trickery) on offroad tracks in the French to Spanish mountains, never failed yet with 19" wheels and Continental UHP tires. The only trucks I seem to see, usually stuck, are stock petrol Jeeps as they can't seem to 'cut the mustard' as standard. Mind you there are no gas stations for hundreds of miles up there and you defo need a sat-phone 'cos there ain't no cellphone signals.
