I have a long block...now what?
Ok, so a D2 popped up in my local wrecking yard, after grabbing the bits I needed (no bumper, bummer) I decided that I apparently had more time then sense and decided to pull the block. Many hours later it sits in my garage. Now what?
My current plan is to tear it down and rebuild it as time and budget allows. My current motor is OK (but at 175k) so I’m not in a huge time crunch. The one I pulled has SAI and my current motor doesn’t, can I just plug the SAI holes?

Yes you can plug it
id strip it down, get heads and block checked at machine shop
have block top hatted
have upper and lower im ported and matched
depending on cost have heads ported too
rebuild with new seals of course
new oil pump
new water pump
new high performance cam
New valves
new lifters
new springs
new rocker arms unless there’s absolutely no damage
that’s if you want to kill 2 birds with one stone and make sure the engine has more power and lasts forever...
but if you want something cheap then just have heads and block checked and rebuild with new seals. I’d still say new springs, lifters and oil pump though
