Exclamation I'm doing a brake job and can't get the caliper off!

I'm replacing the front rotors and pads. I can get first part of the Caliper off, and get to the pads just fine, but I can't get the rest of the Caliper off. The problem is the two 12 point bolts that hold it on. I've tried heating them.....I can't budge them. Any ideas?

I did mine last year, used a 2 ft Breaker bar, had soaked them with PB Blaster first. Was tough, but eventually came off. Hard part was the rotors! Had to heat and beat them off! Lots of PB Blaster, wait, soak and try again.

Just did my brakes two weeks ago, had the same problem. I used PB blaster and WD 40, and let it soak for a couple of hours. Even after I did that I still had a hard time breaking them loose. I used a 12 point, 12 mm wrench( i think) with a breaker bar and they came off. I made sure I used plenty of anti-seize on everything when I put it back together.

that PB blaster did the trick!! Thanks guys.........now what's the secret to getting the caliper back on over the pads? I took it all the way off, and don't have the tool that they use in the RAV manual. Any alternatives?

Here is a tutorial:

I used an antique wooden clamp it worked like a charm because it had a large surface area. If you have a couple large c-clamps and a couple pieces of wood you could rig something up.

Or if you are anywhere near an Autozone you can rent a caliper tool and return it the next day for free.
