Installed KC lights, now battery dead
@fowlerjk04 You need to test alternator output at 3 places, but 1st verify you belt routing is correct according to the Rave and your belt is tight
- Alternator positive to alternator casing 14+ volts
- Alternator positive to primary ground on the engine block 14+ Volts
- Alternator positive to battery ground if you can it is a bit of a reach 13.8 + there is some drop with all the ground connections in between
Very possibly another bad alternator. I went through 2 new alternators before finding a 3rd that actually worked. You also must install it with the battery unplugged otherwise you can fry the electronics inside.
Do you have the new lights all disconnected? Have you undone (or at least isolated) all of the new connections you made to support the new lights? You said that your problem seemed to appear when the new lights went in: don't try to troubleshoot an alternator problem while you might have a wiring problem that is new to the truck.
