Installing Used Engine - What to Freshen Up?
I'm not convinced that an '04 engine is an absolute cure all. There's been two threads here in as many weeks from '04 owners with oil pump explosions and a sprinkling of others around the web. I think it's the tip of the iceberg. Granted, not all will fail...just as not all '03s will break. But I'm not confident about LR's/engine vendor's supposed corrective action.
I'm either going to start pricing '99-'02 RR engines or simply replace the pump gears every 30k (cheaper). Hopefully, some enterprising soul will come up with a DIY fix before then.
