I think ya just buy a new red / black connector thing... rather than try to tighten it. $45 bucks or so on Amazon Ebay or JLR sources... BTW don't do what I did and hammer it in with a hammer if it's a tight fit. I broke one doing that.

I will say the new ones fit pretty snug-ly on the vac tube.

Worked like a charm. I stuck together all my 1/2” extensions, with a 10mm socket on the end.
Jammed a rag in the butterfly, put a thin flashlight in there.
Was very careful that the socket was on the plastic fitting before tapping. Didn’t want to bust a hole in the intake. Took maybe 8 taps. Ideally there would be something with a protrusion on the end, so it engages with the hole.
The old one is definitely more worn than the new one. The new one comes with a small bit of blanked off tube, and I can tell the old fitting was leaking by how much of a pop it makes when taking it out.
Anyway, the bad news is swapping the fitting didn’t fix my issue.
After cold starting it takes about 2 mins to get a proper brake pedal. Before that it’s stiff with reduced effect. Issue is my driveway is steep, and I don’t have full brakes at the bottom.
The vacuum line is holding pressure. After shutting off the car I can release vacuum for a couple of minutes.
