Default Intake brake vacuum connection

I noticed the connection at the intake for the brake booster is kinda wobbly.

I suspect it’s a self sealing thing, but it seems too loose for that, even when running.

I can pull the tube and remove the little red ring. The next plastic insert seems pretty tight.

Is there a way to tighten this up? Is it possibly fine?

I’ve noticed that my brake pedal is stiff and less effective for the first 2 minutes of running. Figured it could be a vac assist thing.

I think ya just buy a new red / black connector thing... rather than try to tighten it. $45 bucks or so on Amazon Ebay or JLR sources... BTW don't do what I did and hammer it in with a hammer if it's a tight fit. I broke one doing that.

LZN100220L is the part #

I will say the new ones fit pretty snug-ly on the vac tube.

That's utterly brilliant going in thru the throttle body side. I broke mine into 50 small bits of decayed soft plastic ... much cleaner this way.

Worked like a charm. I stuck together all my 1/2” extensions, with a 10mm socket on the end.

Jammed a rag in the butterfly, put a thin flashlight in there.

Was very careful that the socket was on the plastic fitting before tapping. Didn’t want to bust a hole in the intake. Took maybe 8 taps. Ideally there would be something with a protrusion on the end, so it engages with the hole.

The old one is definitely more worn than the new one. The new one comes with a small bit of blanked off tube, and I can tell the old fitting was leaking by how much of a pop it makes when taking it out.

Anyway, the bad news is swapping the fitting didn’t fix my issue.

After cold starting it takes about 2 mins to get a proper brake pedal. Before that it’s stiff with reduced effect. Issue is my driveway is steep, and I don’t have full brakes at the bottom.

The vacuum line is holding pressure. After shutting off the car I can release vacuum for a couple of minutes.

Is there any way to test the booster itself?

Once going the brakes are fantastic.

It's said Saab 55557389 is exactly the same part. $18 ebay, just in case you don't want to drop $45 for the same part with LR part no.
