Default Interior lights arent coming on when doors open...

As mentioned the interior lights are not coming on when the doors are opened.
The lights do come on however when the switch is engaged to on.

I was looking for a spring bound switch like every other vehicle I have owned but alas, nothing easily viewable in the door sill.

Any help would be appreciated.

You are aware that there are 3 positions on the light? Off, On, and Door. The switch for the light is integrated into the door latch. If you've pushed the switch to "Door" and it still doesn't light the only thing left is the switch or the wiring. Do the lights come on with the other doors (including the rear door)? if they don't then you can probably eliminate the switching in the latches because it's highly unlikely that 5 door latches would fail simultaneously.

And those door switches route through headers to the BCU. The driver door is on one input, and the rest are on the other. So the door switch makes interior light, interfaces with alarm, SLABS, and probably some more functions. Not just the old school jamb switch of the past.

I looked it over for about 10 minutes and tried all 3 positions on the overhead switch before I came here and posted my query.

Fortunately enough I came out this morning and have had the same fortune fall upon me as redwhitekat - the lights came on when I unlocked the car. It fixed itself!

We'll see how long this lasts.
Either that or I have the first self fixing Rover.....
Doubt it though....

Thank you all for the help and useful information.
If it goes again I will assume it to be something in the BCU.
Savannah Buzz, I'll PM you on that if you don't mind - Regards.

Very strange, this happened to me starting about a week ago. Seems that when the car is warm it's less likely to have the issue. Warmth cures my turn signal that takes about three seconds to react if it's a cold morning.

Stalk switch, the grease in it warms up.... there have been posts on it, to replace it or have a go at cleaning the contacts you have to turn the wheel about 90 degrees.
