the head gasket can blow in lots of places..it can leak water into the combustion chamber the outside or crankcase depending on where it blew...same thing goes for oil or compression...the head gaskets do a lot of sealing when they work...the local parts houses have radiator pressure testers. You ought to be able to borrow one and with the engine off pressure the system and see if you can hear where the leak is....It really doesn't matter where it is, If I were doing the repair it would get both head gaskets replaced. the only problem is it could be a cracked head as easily as it is a gasket. First thing to do is find the leak then determine what has to be done to fix it.......Dan

Correct, you can loose a small section of your head gasket and the engine still can run like a dream. But now there is a weak spot and the big blowout is around the corner. Some have driven like that for a long time and some tear the engine apart and fix it right away. Its a mystery game if you continue to drive it the way it is because you never know when its going to happen. Have you had a chance to download the 'rave'?

I'm pretty sure I've read that a leaking front cover gasket can mix coolant and oil.

An intake gasket leak around the water crossover can also do it.....that's why I recommended the radiator pressure test to see if he could hear about where the leak was....Dan

Now you need to reset the inertia switch. Something you were doing tripped it.
