If they are removing intake manifold to change the coil then you are paying the whole labor to swap both anyways, & yes you want to change both right now,,,
One extra new coil doesn't cost much more when compared to labor & gasket to remove intake,,

It's somewhat odd to have only one cylinder misfire and point to a coil. Both coils function on the "wasted spark" principle, whereby the coil fires two cylinders that are 360 degrees apart, both firing at the same time. Cylinder 8 is tied to cylinder 5. Firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. You can see where 8 and 5 are 360 apart. If the coil is bad, 5 should misfire as well. You may want to have him check the wire to number 8 before he pulls it completely apart.

Alright so it's been a week, truck still in the shop. You guys were right about coil, the number 8 wire on the new set was cut! So we swapped out and it runs and sounds amazing! However, long story short, a power steering suction hose and the radiator nipple are broke. Parts ordered, hopefully done by next Saturday. While in the shop I did swap to some new tires that fit the lift better. 275/65r18 goodrides, cheap I know but they are doable.

Hello, long time. Looks like the tech finally finished today! Power steering pump issues, did a reseal kit, replaced a hose. He drove it 10 miles and told me tc light came on and went off 3 times. Who knows?? But I should be able to take her home Monday! $3500 later!! That includes numerous fluid changes, tires, ball joints, head gasket job and etc things. Radiator and a couple small things and 12 of the 32 hours of the labor were paid by the dealer.
