K&N air filter for v8 disco?
Hello people,
I was just wondering if it would be a good idea to switch the OEM filter with a K&N. I have a 2004 model disco with the 4.6L V8 engine in case anyone had the same combination.
Thanks!

The general idea is no, because you won't get the advertised mpg/power boosts (it is a 4000+ pound brick and tiny v-8 geared for off road use), and the filter allows more oil and dust to enter the MAF sensor and the oil system eventually. The KN filters warranty is void if used off road I have been told. As a new owner of an older D1, I also went down this path, took out the old air box, put on the cone filter, etc. Not a change I could see at the pump, and it was a bit noiser under the hood. Put old system back.
You will also get other reponses that take an alternate view. IMHO upgrade money is better spent on things like Ultra Gauges, plugs and wires, oil changes; not performance chips and the like.

i would stick to standard paper filters. like savannah said it will never go fast. unless of course you take all the doors, glass and roof off, then you can shed some weight and turn it into a beach buggy
