Default Keys

Dear sirs,Thanks again on the input on the head gasket operation,I have a nother problem.I have one key for my disco and the buttons on the key phob are shot.I found on eBay you can get brand new ones and you can have them cut .Ebay says that they will work. But don’t you have to send your vin # to Land Rover to get the right code so the key maker can cut it correctly and what about the programming process for the face board does that have to be programmed can the key guy do this after the key code is sent to the key maker or does it have to be done by the dealership?Does anyone know?Thank you

The vehicle and new remote have to be at the same location for someone to code it. Your remote needs to be 315 mHz, make sure you don't get a 422 or whatever else is out there.

I am betting that the microswitch on your circuit board is broke .You can get a pair of new ones on eBay for 10 bucks then have it installed for another 20 bucks. I did that and put a detailed write up on it.

the ebay ones are often just the plastic shell. if your circuit board and the switches on it are still fine then all you need to do is change the outer piece and have the key shank cut by any independent locksmith.

I purchased a key from remotekey.co.uk. It came with a key / FOB and programmer for about $150, $30 of which is a deposit that gets refunded when you return programmer. I received a few days ago, it works great.

That's far away from us, i consider hiring a local mechanic to take car keys out whenever i face issues like locked keys in car or lost keys.

I repaired my fob circuit board with a $0.13 micro tact switch from Mouser.com...
