Default Leak Down Test questions

I have been advised that my misfire issues as outlined in this thread:

https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...es-help-79454/

may be the result of bad valves. I am planning on doing a leak down test to try and get some answers. I have done some research and am familiar with the basics. I have a few questions about our specific engines:

1. Has anyone come across a writeup for a D2?
2. What is the best way make sure the cylinder being tested is at TDC?
3. Is it true the engine should not be rotated backwards?

In addition to answers to these questions, any tips or advice regarding leak down tests would be greatly appreciated.

Finding tdc is no big deal. If you find a massive amount of leakage, you can always turn the crank 360 degrees and try it again. It may help if you put a mark on the crank pulley.
I usually turn the engine forward if I'm turning it a lot. If you go past tdc, there's no reason why you can't turn it backwards a little bit.

Put a screwdriver in the plug hole for the cylinder you are testing, if it starts to go up then stop, that's TDC.

Or TDC on the exhaust stroke.

This is what I was getting at. If you see a massive amount of leakage, turn the crank 360 degrees and retry the test.
