Leak from throttle body heater... replace or tighten?
I didn't see the door lock rod but do think the heater is a cool alternative.
I guess I'm just tired of the race to the bottom with everything being about one thing and one thing only, how cheap it is. We buy stuff cheap from the local parts store and think we're getting a deal until we find out the part doesn't fit. We want the best price but when we discover the item isn't built as well or doesn't last as long we're pissed at the manufacturer. Shortcuts and shoddy workmanship abound these days and, in fact, get rewarded in the quest to save money.
To me, it's just nice to see someone take the time to offer a solution that, as I said, will probably last longer than the car itself.

I love this kind of thing because it addresses the biggest durability issue with these Rovers: plastic pieces and parts in and around the engine block. I don't care if it's expensive – it's great that the option exists.
Definitely replace those spring clamps, they're sh*t. Personally I'd replace the gasket as easy as it is to get to, or even just bypass the damned thing. I've had mine bypassed for a year and I've never had an issue daily driving it in temps ranging between 90 degrees and -10 degrees and everything in between.
I am doing the bypass on my '02 D2. What do I do with the nipples on the throttle body warmer once bypass is done?
This is a very common thing. You have two basic options:
1) Bypass the throttle body heater plate entirely.
2) Replace the assembly.
If you opt for the second choice, I'm pretty sure Atlantic British has a kit for it. Shouldn't be incredibly expensive - just make sure you have a 5.5mm driver.

The third option is to take it apart, clean it, and reassemble using RTV instead of a gasket. Costs almost nothing, and will likely hold forever.
There is absolutely no reason to replace the whole assembly.
Thank you for the replies!
Just to let you know... When replacing the heater plate last time I used RTV on both sides of the supplied gasket. None of the bolts were loose when I checked.
I looked at it yesterday and one of the spring clamps literally slid off without unclipping it... No leak appeared to originate from the gasket area so I will try to get some wormgears and see what happens. I'll update when I replace the clips.
