Leaving Rover parked for 3 months (battery?)

alright, in my line of work i leave the country for 3-4 months at a time. the car will not be accessible to anyone during this time. i've read the horrors of a battery dieing and immobilizing the car and i don't want to be stranded at midnight the day i get back with literally no way of getting the car to a dealer to get it going again.
options: disconnect the battery. how can i do this without immobilizing it?
buy a solar battery tender. will this 'f' my battery? i have no experience with them.
fingers crossed the battery stays alive that long.
just looking for some direction and experience with this. i have read this article: Security and Alarm System Operation & Diagnosis on Range Rover 4.0/4.6/P38A and i don't want to go through all this in the dark trying to get home.
thanks,
jon

no ability to plug in a trickle charger. it'll be in a locked parking lot in the middle of nowhere. i was looking at one of these: Solar - Batterytender.com
i don't think the cigarette lighter has power with the key off, so i'd just run wires straight to the battery.
the only other option i see is disconnecting the battery, but how would i do this safely without risking immobilization?
thanks
jon

As long your door lock works (with the key) you will not be locked out if the battery goes dead, unless you "super lock" the truck when you park it, which is a very bad idea.
If you unhook the battery you will screw up the alarm.
If you have a good battery and it is fully charged when you park the truck it will not go dead in 3 months.
I would use the solar charger hooked directly to the battery with it placed on the dash for maximum sun exposure and run the wires under the hood out of sight.
If you are parking it where it is going to snow try and park it facing south so the sun melts the snow off of the windshield and the charger gets full sun.
The cigarette lighter in Land Rovers does not have power with the key off.
