Lifter noise

Lifter noise
I have a 2004 disco and have been having lifter noise for about a year. not the best on oil changes. Did run BC oil cleaner through it and ran for 50 mi. Helped about 50 %. DO I continue doing this and see if the noise goes a way. Do I have the oil pressure checked. Do I change out the lifters and cam or just change out the engine all together. has 80,000 mi. and performance is good. The lifter sound sounds like 1-2 of them top side. It is not apparant in am when its cold .gets worse after driving it 30mi or so and goes away after about 30mph

I would test oil pressure at idle and 2500 rpm. Should be from 15- 40 thats my numbers. I have lifter noise too... I even replaced them this year. I did push rods and rocker shafts as well. Still has the noise. I have just came to the conclusion that it will tick.... Especially since my inside engine is so clean you can eat off it... Minus the oil of course.

You can use 15W40 and 20W50 down to 32F. You can use 10W40 and 10W30 down to 14 F. So why use 10/30 at all? Rotella is very good oil, diesel rated, so it cleans a lot of crap out. 5000 mile drain interval. You can spend money on oil changes or a new engine. You can hold a stick to your ear and press one end against the valve covers to get an idea of where it is coming from.

First, having driven on the loud lifters, was real stupid, you most likely will have trashed a good portion of your valve train, be it the cam and lifter, push rod, rocker arms or shafts so don't think flushing the engine out after the fact is going to make this all go away, cause it won't.
Better start putting some money together, quickly.
