Default Looking to buy

Hi, new to this forum and had a question.

I have the opportunity to purchase a 2003 Disco with 74,000 miles on it for a very good price. Problem is, it has a sporatic misfire to it... Code that comes up is "misfire cylinder 8". Has new plugs and wires, any thoughts? MAF? Thanks in advance for the help!

Probably a bad crank sensor, ~$65 DIY.
Make sure you read the "what to look for" in the tech section.

Thanks, and I was hoping signs would point to something like that! Will read the what to look for!

Do not forget about the fact that the oil pumps are bad on the 03's. Thanks Spike

Not the cps or it would not run.#8 is a good indication of slipped liner.Stay away unless you have the $ for a new motor.

Had the same code on a 2004 DII. Replaced the valley pan gasket (lower intake) and it fixed it. These engines start loosening the lower intake bolts due to heat cycling during short trips. When that happens, coolant is sucked into the rear cylinders intake runners causing a misfire.
