Looks like I need to put a ring on it - advice on engine
I bought it with a non fouler in the #4 cylinder and when I had it open for head gasket, there was a ton of baked on oil on the top of pistons and valves. I did the valve seals as well, hoping, but it's gotten worse. Leak down confirmed
Wanted to see what best option is. Is there even a source of crate engine? Or a good source for block? With all the talk of the sleeves wandering and scoring, not sure if it's worth it to just replace the problems in that cylinder?

Looks like I'm going to tear it down and see if I can just do rings or piston. But mainly dig in and see what's specifically damaged.
It sucks, it was my only vehicle with AC and here comes summer
.time to convert work truck to 134a I guess
I would source an early 4.0 engine from will Tillery or one of the other Breakers and then rebuild it if I was you. If yours is a 4.6 you can put your crank rods and pistons in it and it will be a 4.6 but with the superior 4.0 block.
