Default LT230 Transfer Box Gaskets

Hi All,

I have a '95 D1. Is it recommeded to use the gaskets when re-sealing the LT230 Transfer Box; or simply use sealer such as I heard "the right stuff?

The gasket set is pretty cheap, so you could use those for simplicity sake. Even if you did, I'd still coat the gaskets in RTV before installing them. Lucky 8 has the gaskets as a set.

The gasket sets come with the shaft seals too. You cannot use sealer in place of those.

Hi all, thanks for the input. I checked the manual and it just mentions using the RTV which I've heard permeated 'the right stuff' is pretty good. My question for the main shaft seals is how much is involved in replacing them? Right now I have the box out with the parking brake drum removed and I think the output gear removed as well. I know for sure I need to replace the felt washers. Also, the viton main seals appear to be the ones to use if I go to the trouble of replacing them.
