Hahhahhahahaha. That was me! Stop spilling my ignorance! It was my front driveshaft. Brand new out of the box. I called the manufacturer and the first response was "what the hell did you do that for?!" An understandable response, though an impolite one. I didn't know I had to hold the darned thing like a fresh birthday cake!

Oh well most of the published goofs are mine. I guess you haven't seen what I did to my AC drain last night. Hahah

I thought saying "another member" was more polite than calling you out!

Reading through this post I think there was some confusion as to wether it is a front or rear shaft.

I got that it was a front. Am I correct?

It is the front driveshaft.

Fallstaff's response from page 2:

"Front Propshaft, replacing because it was original and I like my transmission hole free."

That's what I said! HAHA, Abran, it is too early to imbibe... especially in California.

Truth is I forgot which thread I was on...

I'm now going to embarrass myself just for the sake of closure:
I don't think what I was feeling had anything to do with the driveshaft. I'm now pretty convinced it was just the difference of driving with the AC on — I'm not used to that (Canada).
Just the extra load on the engine was making it feel different (I'm the princess and the pea when it comes to new sounds). Although I now do think the engine might be running a little rough (but no codes or anything obvious).
Thanks again, I'll now go slink off with my tail between my legs.

HAHA, no, LEAVE WITH YOUR TAIL POINTED TO THE SKY... because you figured it out. I should have thought of that... when my old electric fan came on mine would shudder a little from the sudden electrical draw. Yours is from the draw on the belt when the compressor clutch kicks in. This thread may help someone else anyway. That's what the forums are all about.

And you just proved that you are really tuned to your rover. That's the kind of owner a rover really wants (and needs).

Too kind Charlie V!
Now I'm onto replacing the front O2 sensors to see if that settles the motor a little. I can see the values are all over the place.
But doing the rears sucked so much — I don't wanna...
Anyone with a line on cheap bosch units? Best I'm getting is Rock Auto at just under $70 Canadian.

Often Amazon is the cheapest on NTK, and with free shipping. Except for maybe RockAuto, but I refuse to do business with them.

You can look up the NTK PN on the NTK/NGK web site.
I've bought Bosch before and they were actually NTK sensors.
