I am. I trust the oil pump to 100k, but I've seen a hand full fail around 120k. The way I see it, go ahead and do it alwvery 60 while most everything is already apart.

Not to say they won't last till 120k. 9 out of 10 will last that long. It's expensive to fix if yourl're that unlucky 10th, though.

That's impressive. I understand that the later the year the worse they get for breaking, but still that they do fail not infrequently in earlier years. I suppose it comes down to each individual engine.

I tore apart an 04 with 128k with a pump gear cracked clean through in three places. My own 03 had a crack forming, though not through, at around 135k when I replaced it. I've seen and talked to other people with failures around 115k-125k. Even the one in RoverMasterTech's write up in one of the sticky's had failed by 110k.

That's not to say my information is universally correct, but I figure better safe than sorry. A $70 oil pump is a lot cheaper than a front cover and all new bearings.

I disagree on that as some folks I see doing more damage than good trying to do a oil pump change.

How many times over years have we seen no oil pressure threads and the issue was priming the pump properly.

For me and it's my opinion that is not a 60k maintenance item

That's perfectly fair, and in that light I'll add a note that it's simply recommended based on personal beliefs. It's definitely something that can cause issues when done improperly.

Changed and added a third section. Any recommendations for there would also be appreciated.

It says before changing oil to put in half a bottle of seafoam and drive for 500miles, is that advisable?? Seems like that would harm something.

Depends on who you ask, Seafoam says 100-300 miles.

Some love it some don't.

I stick with quality oil, filter and a good change interval. My opinion.

I must be misremembering. I thought it was 500, but I'll change to reflect 100-300.

I should qualify that, I only recommend it for new ownership. Otherwise stick to good oils and regular changes. Never know exactly how (any) of the last owner(s) treated it the oil changes.
