FWIW, both of the sunroofs were broke when I got my Rover. I removed then, took them apart, resurfaced the magnets and they worked perfectly. This made me wonder if it was the same for my parts Rover. So I did the same thing to those motors and they both worked. It was really simple. Might be a cheap way to get your sunroofs running again.
This thread is awesome, thanks for all of the information everyone!
QUESTION - does anyone have a photo of the manual crank screw? I’ve tried dozens of sizes of Allen wrenches and none of them seem to fit… When looking into the hole from underneath it seems hollow and I believe I may be missing the actual screw.
QUESTION 2 - when trying to activate my front sunroof nothing happens besides a clicking noise when pressing the close option; when toggling the sunroof to open there’s no movement as well as no sounds or clicking.
This thread is awesome, thanks for all of the information everyone! I agree
QUESTION - does anyone have a photo of the manual crank screw? ( I don't have one as I didn't have my good phone but will once I do the repair) I’ve tried dozens of sizes of Allen wrenches (for non US version's is Allen screw) and none of them seem to fit… When looking into the hole from underneath it seems hollow and I believe I may be missing the actual screw. (Possible) For those who check this in 2022. I used a Torx 25 I have 2004 SALT VIN D2 rear sun roof opens fine then grinds and won't close. Its original so assuming the gears finally stripped. So once I get time to remove ill post findings.
QUESTION 2 - when trying to activate my front sunroof nothing happens besides a clicking noise when pressing the close option; when toggling the sunroof to open there’s no movement as well as no sounds or clicking. CHECK: For the front if nothing is happening. And 1 you had a drain tube leak a strong possibility there is water in the motor (YouTube has videos for this) and A remove take apart and clean and dry it out and test. (YT has a video for this) B use 5/16 x 1 inch aluminum bushings epoxy them as new connections for drain tube hoses. (YT has a video of this) Solves the leak if its the broken drains. C if water is from seals replace or repair as desired (YT has a video for this). 2 replace motor if dry and motor is bad. If wet replace motor if not technical enough to try and repair. (YT has a video for this)
