Messing With Power Steering Pump Rebuild
So I read a bunch of the posts here after searching on the subject. I used "Right Stuff" and torqued the cover back down. Mine was leaking at the back. The original gasket was torn so that was my problem for sure.
After tightening the bolts the pump is really hard to turn so I took it apart and tried again with the same results. I'm thinking that this part has such tight tolerances that the gasket material in the original gives it that few thousandths clearance to turn freely and why these things fail when trying to use gasket maker.
Is this the case?
If so, can I make a gasket out of copper or aluminum to replace the plastic oem gasket?
