When bleeding, I find that lifting the recovery tank and the bleeder union, while filling the system, ensures that all the air is bled. If you do this and still end up with air in the cooling system, I'd look into getting a HC test done on the cooling system.

I can almost guarantee you have a small head gasket leak. This sounds exactly like what my truck was doing before the small leak got big.

Try to properly bleed the system and refill first. But as others have stated you are probably looking a major repair.

That's uncalled for.

LR, HC test is a Hydrocarbon test, aka the Exhaust gas test. Tube with the blue liquid that changes colors in the presence of exhaust gasses in the coolant system. Exhaust gases tend to contain some amount of unburnt fuel (the hydrocarbons), this is what the test is looking for to indicate a gasket failure between the combustion chamber and water jacket.

I was not trying to be a butt head but i would not think the OP or some of the other new members/owners would know what HC stands for so I just wanted you to elaborate a little more on it.

Of course I do,

but I was not the OP being directed to perform a abbreviated test i just wanted him to elaborate a bit on what he was advising him to do.
