Hey guys, found some closure.

Cheap sensors were contacting the reluctor rings. Spaced them out but foxwell tool was showing 0mph on all three of them. So spaced them out with o rings pinched under the body of the sensors. Got speed readings but it immediately threw codes for all 3 sensors. Tried one more time with some super thin plastic washers, worked like a charm.
cleared the codes and the lights stayed off.

So lesson learned, cheap sensors need to be massaged a little to work correctly.

I used a relatively cheap sensor ($30), I'm getting cut wire code, not low output or whatever it would say if the signal was crap. Does that mean the sensor is bad and I should get another one instead of adjusting washers o rings etc?

 

Wouldn't worry about pics until you know is issue. I would invest in a scanner that will read ABS. I should have done it the week I bought mine.

 

sounds like the sensor is bad or wire is clipped/grounded somewhere. Or you didn't get the plug seated all the way.

 

An ABS or LR Specific code reader will help a lot. I've used Ebay 45.00 for the entire set of ABS sensors without any issues. I normally always replace either per axle or all 4 when messing with ABS sensors. I compared the last set of generic ABS sensors to the OEM units and I didn't see any difference.

I used to think the ABS 3 Amigo's was a big deal until I got myself a decent scantool, and I read up on the Option B Mod which is the main weak link in the system. I'd say do the Option B Mod with a new set of shuttle valves (60.00 tops), after buying a D2, and maybe even the sensors themselves and then have a good long while until they pop up again.

 

Agreed, I really thought that abs codes were going to be much harder than they really are. But having someone scan them, and recently having my own scanner, has made it a non-issue
