Go to your tire shop and get a price on each, the Cooper and the BFG.

I have had both on my van, the Cooper I can spin the tires when stuck on ice to heat them up and melt through the ice to get traction, the BFG's I cannot, they wear to fast.
Brand new BFG A/T's in October, almost bald and its only May.

How many miles are we talking? And how's your driving style in the van? I have some crazy FedEx drivers coming to my warehouse... Also, a lot of city driving, stop and go, sharp turns and heavy loads will add up. Granted you have done the comparative test. I will check on availability in other countries to see how they compare at that.

And here is something else to consider.
I drive the same no matter the tire that I have on my van, the BFG's last 20k or so and the Coopers last 35-40k.
You said that you are buying 6 tires so if you do get 2 flats, which is very doubtful, all you will need to buy in Mexico is a tire that is round and holds air.
Buy what you want, but I think you are paying for the name with the BFG.
