need picture directions for CDL lock
i know. i know. im a dumb *ss. discomike knows im a dumb *ss after just one phone call with me (btw mike the JBweld worked wonders on the wipers while i was stuck in some god-forsaken part of Iowa - thanks!) and you guys and gals know im one after the slide-into-lake incident. having been outted as a rover dumb*ss i have no fear of asking dumb questions.
so here goes:
on my 2000 disco II i know i have a CDL lock. it is located under the vehicle (passenger side?) and i need to buy a 10mm open-ended wrench to manually turn and lock it because it doesnt have the handy little addition to the 4xHigh/4xLow lever in front of my gear shift lever. so i before a recent off-roading trip recently i thought id be smart and lock the CDL while on dry land and crawled under the vehicle, wrench in hand. I get under the vehicle in the reccomended long sleeve shirt (because the exhaust is HOT dontchaknow) and begin to look for this too-obvious-to-miss 10mm sized nut. what do i see but ... NOTHING. I really cant find the damn think. So what i need is a picture (preferably one of those simple shape - primary color sesame street easy ones...) of the nut i need to turn to activate the CDL lock.
thanks

The top of the pic is the end of the front driveshaft.

I came across this cable operated kit. It looks like it would work good, simple design. I made my own linkage that you operate from outside the vehical, it works good. What ever you attach to the transfercase make sure you use a 8mm nylon lock nut or it will vibrate loose.

RE: need picture directions for CDL lock
The CDL stud is in between the three bolts on the circular cover plate. The stud is threaded. At the base of the stud is where you apply the 10mm wrench\spanner. You only turn it about 1/8 of a turn (approx. 40-45 degrees). Best way to describe the base is to imagine a bolt with a six sided head, then imagine grinding one side of the head down to the thread- then flip over and grind down the opposite side down to thread also. Stand bolt on it's head and you have a close representation of the CDL stud you are "feeling" for.

this shows an overhead view as if you center console was gone, and the rubber boot around the CDL lever is gone
