Default Need quick help 98 d1 4x4 shifter

Mine is stuck, the diff lock will not get the truck into low range...

I took the whole center console out, the shifter moves right to left but not up or down... Right to left triggers the nut the linkage is coupled to, but where is the linkage for the up and down movement? How do you operate this propperly so I can figure out where I need to be tugging on this?

thanks guys

More then tugging, clean and lube all the linkage point and persistenly keep try to move the shifter back and forth without bending it. The other possibility is that the solenoid in the t/case is no working thus it can't shift.

Well at first it wasn't moving at all, it was just 100% frozen. I was able to lube and free the left to right movement... When you move left to right it pops the linkage out and triggers the 4x4 light... but there is another part of the linkage that goes somewhere under the console, I'm sure that's whats keeping me from moving the shifter up and down because even tugging on the linkage itself it won't move... What is the next step now? Could this be a fuse or something also?

The front linkage is for the CDL.

So that not moving at all... what do you suggest I do? It'll move at the C clamp on the shifter only because it's stressing the link a little, but aside from that, the other end is LOCKED... How to I access this area? Any advice as to what to do?

I see there is another thread on the first page exactly like mine... sorry I missed that...

I'm stuck exactly where he is... where is it/how do I access the solenoid ? could it be a blown fuse?
