the flange has the words front written on it. Still doesn't mean we can't screw up while doing the job. Especially when you are rushed and forget something.

Well I removed the pully, and it was on right the word front was well in front..i think its the flange. I noticed quite a bit of shine on the shaft, I attacted a picture what do u guys think?

Exactly the same way mine looked. The triangular flange that the pulley bolts to has walked forward. Even if you could find a way to press it further back on the shaft, there is no guarantee it isn't just going to walk forward again.

Pump replacement is the only option, I'm afraid. I was lucky, because the used engine I bought when I first got my Disco came complete with a pump, so I was able to use the pump from my old engine when this exact thing happened to mine.

Check Roverland, Car Cannibal, or local used places for another power steering pump, as even rebuilt units are quite expensive.

Well thats cool, a new pump is no big deal, there is a guy that lives south of me here in kentucky that sells nothing but salvaged LandRover parts Disco's I and II and Range Rovers..and he told me he would bring me a psp pump with a 60 day warranty for $120
