I stopped by the Land Rover dealer today and picked up some hoses and a heater plate to fix my coolant leak and I have to give the staff there credit. The customer service was fabulous and they gave me a 15% discount on my parts for being a Houston Land Rover Club member.
Replacing the small hose that goes from behind the a/c compressor to the throttle body was a major pain. I had to remove the bolts on the a/c compressor to move it and with the surpentine belt on I can't get the bolts started. The belt is pulling the front of the compressor down and I can't figure out how to get the belt off. I know it should have a spring loaded pulley, but I am having no luck getting the pulley to move. To make matters worse, I dropped one of the throttle body bolts and can't find it anywhere. It has to be somewhere hiding down the side of the engine, but I have no idea where.

Here are the parts I am replacing.

Well, everything turned out okay. I figured out how to move the tensioner so that I could get the A/C bolts in and I found the throttle body bolt I dropped. The truck runs great now and I think I have stopped the coolant leak. I did notice that the power steering fluid is bubbling when the engine is on. Is that normal?

Congrats! Glad to hear it. Just be sure the steering fluid level is correct, but yes, it "bubbles" normally. Mine is more like circulating, but it moves quite a bit.

Thanks for the feedback. I feel like I accomplished a lot today. Now I know that I won't have any trouble out of those lines for several years. I still have the do the 180 degree thermostat, but the dealer doesn't have it. They told me the never put them in so I guess I will have to get it from Atlantic British.

I got mine off
Amazon Amazon
. It was $43.20, but I had a gift card, so I only paid a portion of that. Looks like they are out of stock on it for now.

Try to avoid the dealer. I stopped at ones in Orlando and Columbia SC and neither carried a clock bulb.....

Atlantic British is due to have them in stock again on 2/14, according to their website. I signed up for the email alert. If I have to I can always guy one from eBay. Actually, I think the XL Parts distributor here locally has one or two in stock. I almost forgot about them. It is really odd that the dealers don't install the 180 degree units. I have checked with two of them and they insist that they only install the 190 degree thermostats.

I have never used the dealer much for either my Mercedes or GM vehicles, but I have to say, the service I received yesterday from the dealer here was outstanding. my total bill was on par with what I would have paid Atlantic British, I was warned about possible other hose issues, and I got to spend 15-20 minutes with the Asst. Service Manager. Very positive experience.

Most dealer experiences posted here are negative. It is a breath of fresh air to hear a positive one. They can't all be bad. They are usually the high priced solution. But that is the old good-cheap-fast equation, select any two.
