Which cooler was omitted for the 04?
Oil or trans.

And why did LR decide to omit the cooler?

Cost savings? or they just moved it elsewhere?
Never owned an 04 and it is a different beast than an 01 in many ways.

Oil cooler. Somewhere it was said new synthetic oils are holding better. Actually, here https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...e2/#post339471

Tranny radiator is still there.

No, it should be warm, if your new radiator is actually cooling. IMHO, it works...

Just a tip to save some cash. If your radiator is not broken but just clogged with crud and limescale I have used this stuff on my D2 and Pajero. I leave it in for up to a week during the spring/summer (or a time when any freezing or frost is highly unlikely) with no stat then drain down, flush out (backflush) then refill with antifreeze containing an inhibitor. You would be amazed to see the crud that flushes out. The central heating cleaner is safe, they say, with all metals and seals probably because the same metals and seals appear in an automotive cooling system as well.
