I have a 2002 disco 2 that has a intermittent dull grinding sound coming from the drivers side when starting.The only thing i've checked is the a/c drains to make sure they are not stopped up.Can anyone shed some light on this noise?

 

Well, it won't be water plugged up by the old nipple drains, that is for sure.
You need to crawl under wheile someone is trying to start the engine and see where the noise is coming from, then get back to us.

Your starter may be the noise maker.
This may mean its almost time for a new one.
Try to get it checked out before it leaves you out some place.

I checked the starter but it seems to be fine and it's also located on passenger side.This noise only happens after the disco has set for a while before starting.It seems to be coming from under dash of drivers side.
