Unhappy Noises and steering vibration

I have a 2001 Disco @ 100k miles. Just this week, I started getting a noticeable vibration in the steering wheel. Going down the interstate, I can even see that the vibration is causing the side rear view mirrors to shake a lot.

Also, at about 50 mph, if I lightly touch the gas pedal, I hear a very noticeable squeak. With the driver window down, its even more noticeable. If I am driving up hill, the speed doesn't matter - the truck squeaks along with the vibrations.

This is something that just developed. No prior warning signs at all. With the truck in neutral, the squeak goes away - even while moving. I think this is drive train related.

Anyone have any ideas? At the two symptoms really symptoms of two different things or are they possibly related? Help would be appreciated.

Chris

STOP DRIVING THIS TRUCK!!!
Have it towed to a shop and have them inspect the front driveshaft u-joints.
If they fail you WILL be buying a new $7000 transmission.
Tons of threads on this issue, just look for "front driveshaft", or "double cardon"

Ditto!!!
Spike is serious, your front drive shaft is most likely failing and you don't even want to go there.
