Hello all,I took my 04 disco for a spin today and i noticed when it shifts from 1 to 2nd there a little vibration for about 2 sec.Now i have been reading a lot here on front drive shaft failures so im going to replace it.I dont have the time to rebuilt it so im going for new.I was on the GBR web site and i like the Reman D2 driveshaft. Is this a good unit? thanks

Default Yes...

Yes , there fine, You can get yours rebuilt in a day. It's about $60.00 in parts and $130.00 buck to do it. It's your choice.

Thats great info,Im gonna see if there is a good driveshaft shop on LI that will do a rebuild for me and what it will cost.I went under the truck now to give a look at the double u joints and they look fine.my disco just hit 89k.Its not my daily driver but more of a weekend toy so i wont drive it until its fixed.

Be sure to ask them to also deal with the centering ball. See http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...dFkNw84zL8_efw

Good catch savannah, i left that out...

If you look for a driveline shop that does 18 wheeler trucks will be a good bet. Thats who did mine.. And they sprayed a great protective coating also.

Indy drive shaft and indy radiator shops and Indy starter/alternator shops are a great resource for stuff that needs to be done and is usually priced by the pound for guys that work on the big iron, vs priced by vehicle MSRP at the chain repair centers and dealers....

Bill's drive shafts are first quality. What are you doing regarding your rear u-joint, do you ever grease it, like at least twice a year, if not that u-joint should be replaced also and make sure to check your roto-flex for cracking between the 6 bolts.

Disco Mike,

my front u-joints are shot on my 97 Disco and I'm debating on replacing the whole driveshaft or just replacing the ujoints. The truck has 160K on it so not sure which direction I should go. Any suggestions?
